"Masquerade" By Kit Williams, Published by Jonathan Cape Ltd, London 1979

I came across this one the other day at a bookshop in Edinburgh - mint condition and not badly priced either. For anybody not familiar with the story of its publication and the havoc it sparked off when thousands of readers went out treasure hunting for the jewelled golden hare in the story, here's the Wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masquerade_(book)
Meanwhile you can spend hours looking for all the hidden meanings and messages in these pictures...

  1. This is a fantastic book! I don't remember a time in my life that I haven't had a copy of this book in my home.

  2. The riddles in this were so fabulous and intriguing. I wish there was something similar for modern times, but I'm not sure how it could happen given the Internet. It'd have to be extremely complex or subtle, perhaps something like the mysterious movies from William Gibson's novel "Pattern Recognition".
